Michael Hastings, born in October6, 1980 is a democrat of the Illinois Senate from 19th district which includes Homer Glen, University Park, Flossmoor, Park Forest, Olympia Fields, Oak Forest, Lockport, Mokena, New Lenox, Richton Park, University Park, Homewood, Hazel Crest etc. Before a senator, Hastings worked as a U.S. Army captain who has served his country in Iraq, Iran and Syria. Hastings got his bachelor degree in leadership and management, and he earned his master’s degree in business administration from University of Illinois.

As an Illinois senate, Senator Michael Hastings has helped in combating $100 billion Lincoln-Ways of pension. Hastings also encouraged HB 4691 which allows the transfer of the Illinois municipal retirement fund to the new pension fund with the creation of a new downstate police pension fund.

In addition, Michael Hastings Tinley Park also sponsored Senate Bill 20 which calls for the dedicated funding for the development of the new airport in Peotone. Hastings believes that senators have a responsibility to create the policy to foster the environment to create jobs and improve the quality of life that the people deserve to have. With the same intention, he is pushing the sate to use the vacant Lincoln-Way North High School campus located in Frankfort. He wants Illinois state police to use the 11-year old building and locate the District 5 headquarters there which is currently located in Lockport. The extra property located on the campus can be used to create the crime lab. A new forensic lab will create thousands of jobs in that area which will have positive impact in that area.
